Itinerary details
Meeting time: approximately 8:00 AM–12:00 PM. Depending on the train schedule, we’ll text you the evening before with details such as the meeting time and location. Please keep your phone available. Follow the departure time in the text or email you receive the previous evening, and arrive at the meeting point 10 minutes early to begin the day’s itinerary. After meeting in the city, head to the first stop, Brighton Beach, to visit the famous Brighton Bathing Boxes. Then continue by bus to the Dandenong Ranges, traveling through their lush greenery to experience Australia’s natural environment before visiting the century-old steam railway. The second stop on the itinerary is the Puffing Billy Steam Railway, one of Australia’s oldest steam trains, located 42 km east of Melbourne. Upon arrival at the station, get ready to board and travel through the lush Dandenong Ranges, experiencing Australia’s natural environment. If time permits, you can visit Maru Koala and Animal Park (at your own expense) to learn more about native Australian animals, hand-feed kangaroos, and get up close with the animals. (Depending on the Puffing Billy train schedule; a visit is not guaranteed.) In the evening, we will arrive at the Nobbies Centre, a spectacular headland at the southwestern tip of Phillip Island, where you can take in beautiful scenery and encounter fascinating wildlife. The final stop on the itinerary is the Penguin Parade. Guests who would like dinner can enjoy a Western-style light meal at the Penguin Centre (at their own expense). After sunset, the magic begins: little penguins swim back to shore from the sea. Watch from the viewing platform as they waddle across the beach and return to their burrows in the dunes. After watching the penguins return to their burrows, we will drive back to Melbourne. We will return to the Melbourne CBD drop-off point, bringing a wonderful day to an end. The return time may be earlier or later than scheduled due to factors such as the day's weather and traffic conditions. Please refer to the actual conditions. We do not recommend booking a flight departing that day, to avoid unnecessary itinerary conflicts. ***Important information*** *The return time may be earlier or later than scheduled due to factors such as the day's weather and traffic conditions.
