Itinerary details
Depart early in the morning and arrive at our first stop, the Twelve Apostles region. Take a walking tour of Loch Ard Gorge, while learning about the shipwreck, geology and coastal ecology. In 1878, the British immigrant ship Loch Ard struck Muttonbird Island here. Only two young people survived. Next, arrive at Port Campbell National Park to see the 12 Apostles. One of the Great Ocean Road’s highlights and most spectacular sights, the 12 Apostles offer plenty of time to admire their unique grandeur from the viewing platforms and down the steps along the boardwalk. You can also take unforgettable commemorative photos here. Then visit Great Ocean Road Wildlife Park, where you can enter at your own expense and get close to Australia’s iconic wildlife. We will also stop here for lunch at your own expense. After lunch, travel through Great Otway National Park. Depending on conditions, we may stop by the road to Apollo Bay and walk together into the dense eucalyptus forest in search of wild koalas, getting close to nature and its wildlife (a stop to look for koalas in the eucalyptus forest is not guaranteed). Then arrive at the charming, peaceful seaside town of Apollo Bay. Its wide sandy beaches, deep blue water and lush green hills create a harmonious natural landscape. Drive through the town of Lorne, whose several kilometres of fine sandy beaches give it a particularly tranquil feel and make it a popular gathering place for surfers. Next, stop at the historic Memorial Arch at Eastern View, one of the Great Ocean Road’s landmarks, originally erected in honour of the people who built the road. After the tour, we will drive you to central Melbourne, arriving at around 8 p.m., bringing a wonderful day of travel to an end. ***Important information*** *The itinerary order and time spent at each stop may change due to objective factors such as the day’s weather and traffic; *As the drive is long, the tour may end late. Please do not book a flight for the same day; *The driver will choose whether to travel the route in the forward or reverse direction according to road conditions.
