Itinerary details
Depart Reykjavík in the morning and drive to the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Along the way, the scenery shifts from open fields to rugged lava terrain. --Sightseeing stops for the day: ☆【Berserkjahraun Lava Field】 This moss-covered lava field is the setting for a fascinating Viking legend about two berserkers who carved Iceland’s first road through this wilderness. ☆【Kirkjufell Mountain】 One of Iceland’s best-known filming locations. This 463-meter (1,519-foot) peak blends beautifully with the surrounding scenery, especially the nearby waterfall, making it a picture-perfect spot. Fans of Game of Thrones may recognize it as the inspiration for “Arrowhead Mountain” in the series! ☆【Djúpalónssandur Black Pebble Beach】 This is a striking black pebble beach with a winding coastline and scattered remnants of old shipwrecks. The beach also has “lifting stones,” once used by fishermen to test their strength. The pounding waves and rugged rocks make this a breathtaking place to stop and take in the scenery. ☆【Ingjaldshólskirkja, the Red-Roofed Church】 One of Iceland’s oldest concrete churches, this church was built in 1903. From this peaceful spot, you can enjoy magnificent views of the surrounding coastline. Interestingly, it has even been used as an eye chart image in China! ☆【The Coastal Village of Arnarstapi】 Next, we’ll head to a small fishing village—Arnarstapi. Take a stroll along its picturesque coastline. In the village, you’ll have the chance to visit Miðgjá, a natural rock arch by the coast. ☆【Búðakirkja, the Black Church】 East of Arnarstapi, this striking 19th-century black wooden church stands out against Iceland’s magnificent landscape. This simple yet beautiful church has become a landmark of the peninsula. ☆【Ytri-Tunga Beach】(*Please note: During the winter months of December and January, Ytri-Tunga is not included in the itinerary due to limited daylight.) This golden beach is famous for its seal colony. Unlike most black-sand beaches in Iceland, the sand here is lighter in color, and seals can often be seen resting on the rocks or swimming in the waves. At the end of the tour, we’ll make a brief stop in the town of Borgarnes, where you can buy and try delicious Icelandic hot dogs. At the end of the tour, return to downtown Reykjavík. *The tour lasts approximately 11 hours No guide information is provided for this route. The pickup location will be as stated on the confirmation.
