The Northern Lights are a spectacular natural phenomenon that occurs when charged particles from the sun interact with Earth's magnetic field. They can only be seen near the Earth's North and South Poles. That makes seeing this captivating spectacle from the sea on a winter trip to Ilulissat a rare and special opportunity. We'll cruise across Disko Bay in search of the mesmerizing Northern Lights. Away from town, the lights will be clearer. We'll make several stops to watch the sky light up in dazzling waves of color, with icebergs rising in the background to create one of the most beautiful night-sky spectacles. The Northern Lights occur year-round, but because of the midnight sun, they can only be seen in the Arctic Circle during winter. To see these shimmering lights, the forecast must call for clear skies. Therefore, we will only go out to sea when the weather permits. *The Northern Lights are an uncontrollable natural phenomenon, so we cannot guarantee that every trip will be successful.
