Christchurch - Oamaru - Dunedin
Itinerary details
After breakfast, travel to the charming historic town of Oamaru on the east coast. New Zealand’s second-largest fishing port, it is renowned for its seafood and well-preserved Victorian precinct. Step into the old town, known as the “White Stone Town,” and feel transported back to the 19th century. Limestone buildings, vintage shops, and cafés create a distinctly British atmosphere. In the afternoon, arrive in Dunedin, a cultural city known as the “Edinburgh of the South,” then drive to the picturesque Otago Peninsula for an immersive wildlife experience. Follow the peninsula’s coastline, enjoying lovely views of bays and farmland. At the wildlife reserve, you’ll have the chance to observe breeding and nesting habitats of little blue penguins, yellow-eyed penguins, and fur seals at close range. Itinerary details
After breakfast, enjoy a city tour of Dunedin. First visit the University of Otago, New Zealand’s oldest university, and soak up its academic atmosphere. Then visit Dunedin Railway Station, which looks like a gingerbread house from a fairy tale, with its exquisite granite and mosaic floor tiles. See elegant historic churches and appreciate their Gothic architecture, then head up Baldwin Street, the world’s steepest street, for a fun challenge against gravity. Continue to Larnach Castle, New Zealand’s only castle. Wander through its magnificent Victorian-era architecture, hear the family’s century-old story, and admire the gardens and historic character. Lunch is a special two-course Western meal at Speight’s, a century-old craft brewery, where you can savor Dunedin’s culinary heritage in a warm, vintage setting. In the evening, arrive in Queenstown, the “Honeymoon Capital of the World.” Enjoy a special ride on the 360-degree Skyline Gondola to the Skyline Queenstown restaurant, one of the world’s ten most romantic restaurants. Against the backdrop of sparkling lights and Lake Wakatipu at night, take in sweeping views of Queenstown while enjoying a generous seafood buffet—a feast for both the eyes and the palate.
