Itinerary details
☆ Trollfjord cruise from Svolvaer We set sail from Svolvaer, the heart of Lofoten, toward the magnificent Trollfjord. It can only be reached by boat or by hiking 10 kilometers over mountain trails. As we leave the harbor, we pass the Fiskerkona (Fisherman's Wife) statue, which has been waving goodbye to Lofoten's fishermen and welcoming them home for decades. Along the way, our guide will share stories about natural wonders, history, and local culture. ☆ Discover wildlife above the fjord and wonders beneath the water Weather permitting, as we enter Raftsundet, we will deploy an underwater drone to explore the mysterious underwater world of the Norwegian fjords. As we glide through swaying kelp forests or cruise along the seabed, we may encounter the fish that once sustained coastal communities such as Svolvaer and helped make Lofoten famous. As the boat continues through Raftsundet, the scenery becomes even more spectacular. Keep your eyes peeled, as this is often where we first spot white-tailed eagles. The homes dotted along the way hold stories of Norway's history, and our guide will share fascinating details and unexpected anecdotes. ☆ A tranquil, unforgettable journey through Trollfjord As the classic highlight of a Lofoten trip, Trollfjord has earned its fame. The fjord entrance is only 100 meters wide, with sheer cliffs more than 1,000 meters high plunging straight into the sea on either side. After passing through this narrow stretch, the view suddenly opens up—you’ll find yourself in an emerald, circular valley, gently embraced on all sides by lush green mountains. In a quiet spot in the fjord, you can join your guide on deck. They’ll put down the microphone and explain things in a soft voice, making the tranquility feel all the more precious. This is a haven for eagles, so remember to look up at the sky. Your guide will share the fjord’s natural wonders, history and culture, wildlife, and, of course, mysterious Nordic troll legends. Before we head back, we’ll pass a waterfall and then begin our return journey. Lunch will be served in the onboard café on the way back.
