Itinerary details
08:00 Your guide will meet you at the Galeria Plaza Reforma Hotel and take you to Puebla, a World Heritage city. 11:00-13:00 Visit Puebla, a World Cultural Heritage city founded in 1531 and a typical Spanish-style city. The magnificent Puebla Cathedral on the central square was inspired by St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome. Construction began in 1575 and continued for two full centuries. Puebla Cathedral and the beautiful Baroque Rosary Chapel will give you a sense of Mexico’s local religious heritage. The Palafoxian Library, Loreto (exterior) and Guadalupe Forts (exterior) will introduce you to Mexico’s rich cultural and historical heritage. In 1987, UNESCO added the historic city of Puebla to the World Heritage List as a cultural heritage site of humanity. 13:00-14:00 After lunch, head to the Great Pyramid of Cholula. 14:00-16:30 The Great Pyramid of Cholula is the size of nine Olympic swimming pools. Considered the largest pyramid in the world (with a volume greater than the Great Pyramid of Giza), it is also the world’s largest historic monument. Although much of the pyramid has been buried underground by the passage of time and human activity, you can still appreciate its grandeur and magnificence. To consolidate their rule, Spanish invaders built the Church of Our Lady of Remedies on the hillside above the abandoned Great Pyramid of Cholula. Today, the church is a landmark of Cholula. As part of the World Heritage Site “Historic Centre of Puebla,” the Church of Our Lady of Remedies sits above the pyramid, which may be the largest in the world by volume, now forever buried beneath the hillside due to the expansion of farmland and urban development. 19:30 Arrive at the hotel, concluding the day’s itinerary. *The itinerary times are for reference only. Departure time, itinerary order and duration may be adjusted according to actual conditions.
