Spend an afternoon exploring Rio’s most breathtaking attractions and taking in the magnificent sights around Guanabara Bay. Your guide will show you all the major landmarks—the Christ the Redeemer Statue, Selarón Steps, and Sugarloaf Mountain—as well as the peaks offering views of Rio de Janeiro’s most famous scenery. Your journey begins at your hotel, where you’ll board a vehicle to Corcovado Mountain. This 2,329-foot (710-meter) peak is famous for the giant Christ the Redeemer statue standing at its summit, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. After traveling through Tijuca Forest, which covers most of the mountain, enjoy the beautiful surrounding views from the observation deck at the statue’s base. Next, your guide will take you to Rio’s iconic Selarón Steps, where brightly colored tiles glow warmly in the evening sun. Finally, take the cable car to Sugarloaf Mountain Park, where you can enjoy one of the city’s most beautiful panoramic views and, if time allows, watch the sunset before returning to your hotel. The Christ the Redeemer statue (Portuguese: Cristo Redentor) stands atop Corcovado Mountain in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and is one of the world’s most famous landmarks. The statue is approximately 30 meters tall, with an approximately 8-meter base and outstretched arms spanning 28 meters, making it one of the largest Art Deco statues in the world. Officially completed in 1931, it was designed by French sculptor Paul Landowski and built under the leadership of Brazilian engineer Heitor da Silva Costa. Its exterior is made of millions of pieces of soapstone, symbolizing not only Jesus’ love for humanity, but also the faith and tolerance of the Brazilian people. The Selarón Steps (Portuguese: Escadaria Selarón) are a famous colorful staircase in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, created by Chilean artist Jorge Selarón. Connecting the neighborhoods of Lapa and Santa Teresa, the steps have 215 stairs and stretch approximately 125 meters. Starting in 1990, Selarón decorated the steps piece by piece with colorful tiles, transforming them into a vibrant public artwork. The tiles come from around the world and now represent more than 60 countries, making the steps a landmark symbolizing cultural diversity and artistic passion.

Sugarloaf Mountain (Portuguese: Pão de Açúcar) is one of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil’s most famous natural landmarks. Located at the entrance to Guanabara Bay, it is about 396 meters high. It gets its name from its resemblance to a traditional loaf of sugar. Sugarloaf Mountain is renowned for its spectacular panoramic views. From the summit, you can see downtown Rio de Janeiro, Copacabana Beach, the Christ the Redeemer statue, and the Atlantic Ocean. Visitors can ride the cable car up and down the mountain. Operating since 1912, it offers a classic travel experience.
