Important notes
Important notes: Please arrive promptly. Due to time constraints, late arrivals cannot be accommodated. We recommend arriving at the meeting point 10 minutes early. The driver-guide will determine the pickup order and times based on the circumstances. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation; please follow the driver-guide’s instructions. 【10:20】Kyoto ▼ Sanzen-in Temple, Kyoto: A seasonal poem in a thousand-year-old temple (60 min) In Ohara, northern Kyoto, lies Sanzen-in, a thousand-year-old temple. One of the five Monzeki temples of the Tendai school, it is not only a leading spiritual retreat in northern Kyoto but also has deep ties to the warlord Toyotomi Hideyoshi. Stroll through the temple grounds, where towering ancient trees cast dappled shadows, moss spreads beneath your feet like a soft carpet, and clear streams murmur softly, while the elegant Kyakuden and Shinden halls quietly tell stories of past glory. Not to be missed are the two pond gardens, Yuseien and Shuhekien, designed by Sowa Kanamori. They are the best places to enjoy Sanzen-in’s seasonal scenery: cherry blossoms in April, azaleas in May, hydrangeas in July, and a spectacular autumn display of crimson maples against green moss. The temple’s wooden statues of Amida Nyorai and his two attendants are designated Important Cultural Properties of Japan. These artistic treasures from the Heian period remain solemn and compassionate after a thousand years, inviting visitors to pause and admire them. (Admission fees for reference: adults ¥700, junior high and high school students ¥400, elementary school students ¥150) 【12:00】Kyoto ▼ Kifune Shrine (about 100 minutes, free time, including time for lunch; lunch at your own expense) “An ancient shrine hidden in the mountains, red lanterns reflected in autumn leaves.” As the head shrine of all Kifune shrines in Japan, this is not only the birthplace of ema votive plaques but also a thousand-year-old sacred place where the mind can find peace. Hundreds of red lanterns line both sides of the approach to the main shrine. Whether surrounded by lush greenery in summer or fiery red leaves in autumn, this is a dreamlike photo spot. Pay your respects at Yui-no-Yashiro to Iwanaga-hime, the deity of matchmaking. The shrine’s matchmaking charms are said to be especially effective, making it a must-visit romantic destination for couples in Kyoto. It is also one of Kyoto’s best summer retreats: visit in August to escape the heat and enjoy the summer-only illumination event. During the autumn foliage season, the entire valley is ablaze with color, making it one of Kyoto’s top spots for fall leaves. Important Information: Stone steps on the approach: The steps leading to the main shrine are steep, so comfortable, non-slip shoes are recommended. Mizura fortune slips: Dip the blank paper slip into the sacred water, and the writing will appear (best experienced in summer). Bring coins for shrine offerings and the footbath fee. 【14:40】Kyoto ▼ Sightseeing at popular Arashiyama attractions (about 120 minutes) (The following attractions are suggestions and cannot all be visited. Choose the ones you like based on your preferences. The driver-guide will wait for everyone in Sagano.) The Arashiyama area comprises two districts: Arashiyama and Sagano. Step into this hidden gem and see the vermilion beams and columns of the World Heritage Site Tenryu-ji Temple set against lush green moss. Wind chimes ring softly beneath the eaves in the breeze as you listen to the Buddhist chants of ancient monks. From Nonomiya Shrine to Okochi Sanso Villa, the famous Bamboo Grove Path forms a green tunnel, with sunlight filtering through the leaves and casting dappled shadows. Wagashi shops and general stores line the area, while the aromas of long-established eateries drift onto the streets. Centuries-old craftsmanship brings you authentic Kyoto flavors. Or hop aboard a rickshaw and listen to the driver share stories of Arashiyama, savoring the city’s gentleness and charm at a leisurely pace. The following attractions are for independent exploration. Please plan your time at each attraction accordingly. This product does not include tickets for the Sagano Romantic Train. If you wish to ride it, you may purchase tickets for a departure between 15:00 and 16:00 on your own. ▼Togetsukyo Bridge—“The night sky, washed clear as water; the bright moon, as if crossing the bridge” Built during the Heian period, Togetsukyo Bridge has endured floods and reconstruction while retaining its elegant appearance. When it was rebuilt in 1934, the designers cleverly combined a modern concrete structure with traditional wooden railings, making the bridge both sturdy and durable without losing its classical charm. Togetsukyo Bridge has appeared in ukiyo-e works by artists such as Utagawa Hiroshige and Katsushika Hokusai, and has become Arashiyama’s most iconic landscape. This is a filming location for a Detective Conan theatrical film. Mai Kuraki’s song “Togetsukyo ~Kimi Omou~” has drawn countless anime fans here on pilgrimage. Stroll across Togetsukyo Bridge, with the gentle flow of the Hozu River below and the layered scenery of Arashiyama before you. ▼ Yuzen no Komichi (Kimono Forest) – A highly photogenic art space featuring Kyoto Yuzen This open-air art museum was created by renowned Japanese designer Yasumichi Morita. Its 32 traditional patterns come from the collection of Kameda Tomisome Workshop, a long-established shop dating back to the Taisho era. The plaza is lined with 600 colorful pillars decorated with Kyo-Yuzen designs. Set throughout the plaza, along the station platforms, and beside the tracks, they make Arashiyama Station look like a work of art. Walk through the “Kimono Path,” flanked by rows of colorful pillars, and at the end you’ll find the energy spot Ryū no Atago Pond. Dip your hands into its cool water and experience the legendary ritual of spiritual cleansing. When you need a rest, soak your feet in the footbath (250 yen), or browse for unique Kyoto souvenirs. ▼Arashiyama Bamboo Grove Path—a serene, lush bamboo trail The bamboo grove path is in Arashiyama and is about 500 meters long. Walk past Nonomiya Shrine toward Okochi Sanso Villa to reach the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove. This is also where Ang Lee filmed *Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon*. Tenryu-ji Temple along the path is famed for its exceptionally beautiful Japanese garden. 【16:40】Enjoy the rest of the day’s activities, then begin the return journey. The return time is for reference only; you may return earlier if the day’s itinerary goes smoothly or traffic conditions are good. 【18:00】Osaka’s Shinsaibashi and Dotonbori areas Guests who chose hotel pickup and drop-off will end their tour here (this will be considered a waiver of the hotel drop-off service, and the transfer fee is non-refundable). Guests boarding and alighting at the meeting point will conclude the tour in the Shinsaibashi area. ▼Shinsaibashi: Osaka’s most famous shopping street, home to major department stores, chain drugstores, long-established shops, and small boutiques. There is a wide range of products in every price bracket and style, and specialty stores for Hello Kitty and Disney are also located here. The area is also a favorite destination for shoppers looking for drugstores, where you can browse cosmetics and skincare products. Most stores have Chinese-speaking sales staff and accept UnionPay, making shopping easy and enjoyable. ▼Dotonbori: synonymous with Osaka cuisine, this street is always bustling, day and night. As the birthplace of Osaka’s so-called “eat until you drop” food culture, Dotonbori offers a variety of delicious snacks and dishes, such as takoyaki, okonomiyaki, and Kinryu Ramen. You’ll also find traditional Japanese izakayas and popular restaurants that have gone viral online, such as Kani Doraku, a favorite among Chinese visitors. Note: All times shown on this webpage are for reference only.
