Itinerary Index: Berlin Wall Memorial + Reichstag Building + Brandenburg Gate Take an international flight, connecting en route, to Germany's largest city and capital, Berlin. Upon arrival, visit the Berlin Wall Memorial, marking the former border between East and West Germany; the Reichstag Building (exterior), home of the federal parliament, whose domed rooftop is also a popular attraction. Its ever-evolving history reflects many facets of German history since the 19th century. Pariser Platz was once called the “King's Reception Room.” This square in central Berlin lies just inside the Brandenburg Gate, at the western end of Unter den Linden. War destroyed most of Pariser Platz, leaving only the Brandenburg Gate standing. Originally one of the gates in Berlin's city wall, the Brandenburg Gate takes its name from the road to Brandenburg. Rebuilt, it became a symbol of division during the Cold War and is now a testament to Germany's reunification.
