Dunedin - Queenstown
Itinerary details
After breakfast, head to the Otago Peninsula for a wildlife tour. The drive from central Dunedin to our meeting point takes about 1 hour, and the coastal route offers beautiful views of the Otago Peninsula. Begin your tour aboard a multi-terrain minibus. First, take in the peninsula’s stunning scenery, then look out for little penguins, sea lions, seals, cormorants, and other wildlife. We’ll get very close to these animals for observation. Love wildlife? Looking for a memorable experience? This is the place for you! Next, visit Larnach Castle, New Zealand’s only castle. It was built by banker William Larnach for his wife Eliza in 1871, and took 200 skilled craftsmen 15 years to complete. Discover the castle’s fascinating history and experience the culture and heritage of the Victorian era. Arrive in Queenstown in the evening, a world-class honeymoon destination. Overnight in Queenstown, located on the shores of Lake Wakatipu and surrounded by majestic mountains. Legend has it that gold prospectors were so captivated by the beauty of the surrounding mountains and rivers that they named this now internationally renowned tourist destination “Queenstown.”

Day 5
Queenstown
Itinerary details
Enjoy a leisurely day exploring Queenstown after breakfast. The itinerary includes a full day of free time. Choose from spectacular fjords, a Lord of the Rings adventure, or a scenic helicopter flight, and discover your adventurous side: A. Milford Sound: The road to Milford Sound is considered one of the world’s most scenic highland roads. Native New Zealand cold-temperate rainforest lines the route, which passes through Eglinton Valley, the country’s largest natural grassland; Mirror Lakes; the 1.27-kilometer Homer Tunnel; and more. Milford Sound is a natural wonder, a deep and spectacular fiord formed by glacial movement two million years ago. Enjoy a peaceful cruise through the fiord with a buffet meal and magnificent scenery all around. Watch waterfalls cascade down the snow-covered mountains on either side, and feel the cool mist from the snowmelt up close near the falls. Along with the incredible natural scenery, you may also spot seals nearby. If you’re lucky, dolphins may swim alongside the boat to say hello! B. Nomad Off-Road Adventure: Queenstown’s 4WD adventure specialists take you across the Lake Wakatipu basin for a taste of New Zealand’s unique backcountry trails! Travel from peaceful farms to dramatic canyons, country lanes to rushing rivers, and historic towns to the Remarkables mountain range. Follow in the footsteps of The Lord of the Rings and trace the gold-mining trails, with the chance to try your hand at gold panning! Or drive along Glenorchy Road, one of New Zealand’s most scenic routes, enjoy views along Lake Wakatipu, visit the charming town of Glenorchy, and take in the pristine natural beauty of Paradise Valley. The tour lasts 3–4 hours. C. Shotover Jet: The world’s first commercial jet boat operator, established in 1960. The 43-kilometer, one-hour ride passes through Lake Wakatipu, the Kawarau River, and the Shotover River. Departures leave on the hour from Queenstown’s main town wharf. Waterproof clothing and life jackets are provided free of charge. Enjoy free admission to the Queenstown Underwater Observatory. Activity photos are available. Airport and hotel transfers can be arranged for groups on request.
