The Patriarchal Cathedral Basilica of Saint Mark, commonly known as St. Mark's Basilica, stands in St. Mark's Square in the heart of Venice. First built in 829 AD and rebuilt between 1043 and 1071, it is a classic example of Venetian architecture and also a treasure trove of valuable works of art.

Venice has more than 400 bridges, and the Rialto Bridge, which leads to the city center, is the most famous. Also known as the Commercial Bridge, it is built entirely of white marble and is a symbol of Venice. The bridge is 48 meters long, 22 meters wide, and 7 meters above the water. It is supported at both ends by 12,000 wooden piles driven into the water, and a pavilion in the middle spans the Grand Canal. Built in 1180, the Rialto Bridge was originally a wooden bridge and was later converted into a drawbridge. During a celebration in 1444, it collapsed under the weight of the crowds. From 1580 to 1592, it was rebuilt as the stone bridge seen today. A small pavilion stands atop the bridge, while more than 20 jewelry shops and souvenir stalls line its sides.
