Itinerary details
After picking you up at your designated meeting point in Reykjavík, we’ll drive east to begin the day’s journey. We’ll cross the Hellisheiði Plateau and travel through the southern lowlands to Sólheimajökull, an outlet glacier of Mýrdalsjökull, Iceland’s fourth-largest glacier. Next, we’ll visit Reynisfjara, Iceland’s most famous black sand beach, and witness the mighty waves of the roaring Atlantic crashing ashore. Rising majestically from the sea just off the beach are the Reynisdrangar basalt sea stacks. Our next stop is the charming coastal town of Vík, Iceland’s southernmost town, where we’ll pause at the local church. After exploring this lovely and unique seaside town, we’ll set off for Reykjavík. On the way back, we’ll make brief stops at Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss. Skógafoss is a spectacular 65-meter-high waterfall. Seljalandsfoss is picturesque, and its special feature is that you can walk behind the curtain of water to enjoy a unique view of the landscape from the other side. We’ll make sure you have plenty of time to enjoy each attraction and create wonderful, one-of-a-kind travel memories. Pickup: The tour usually starts at 8:00 a.m. In winter (November 16–January 31), however, we start at 7:00 a.m. so guests can make the most of the daylight. What to bring: Warm outdoor clothing, waterproof jacket and trousers, a hat, gloves, and sturdy shoes. If you don’t have waterproof clothing, you can rent it from us when booking the tour. Rentals are not available at the attractions.
