Antarctica
Itinerary details
Days 3–6: Explore Antarctica. Cruise along the South Shetland Islands and the western coast of the Antarctic Peninsula, among ice-covered fjords and spectacular icebergs, home to large numbers of seabirds, penguins, seals, and whales. Each day, we will travel by Zodiac with Antarctic expedition team members and go ashore to discover the magnificent scenery. During the voyage, you can also attend a range of educational lectures and presentations prepared by polar experts, or admire Antarctica from the observation lounge, watch polar wildlife, and share travel stories with your fellow travelers. Daily activities may be adjusted at any time according to the weather and sea conditions. Embracing the unknown changes and surprises with a spirit of adventure is key to an Antarctic trip—and part of what makes Antarctica so captivating. The daily route will be adapted to the weather and planned expedition activities so that you can experience as much of Antarctica’s varied scenery as possible. You will have the opportunity to go ashore or cruise at numerous locations on the Antarctic Peninsula, including the South Shetland Islands, Antarctic Sound, Gerlache Strait, and Penola Strait.

☆ Family bookings (6 or more people), or charter and group bookings (charters and groups of 8 or more): please contact customer service for prices and the applicable special booking/cancellation terms.
Payment policy (individual travelers)
A deposit of €4,000 per person is required to reserve a cabin, except for Antarctic Express itineraries (€1,500 per person).
The final balance is due 120 days before departure and may be paid by bank transfer or credit card.
Bank transfer fees are the responsibility of the sender. A 3% fee applies to credit card payments processed through Stripe. Late payments incur a late payment fee of €250 per person.
About children
The minimum age for children to book is 8 years. Children must also meet the following requirements: be at least 1.20 m (3.9 ft) tall, weigh 30 kg (66 lb) or more, and be accompanied by a responsible adult who signs the liability waiver. Children under 12 receive a 5% discount when booking as individual travelers.
Solo travelers
Solo travelers have the following options:
- Book a single-occupancy balcony cabin, with no additional charge for sole occupancy.
- Book a double cabin for sole occupancy. The single-room supplement for sole occupancy of a double cabin is 85% of the fare for the other berth (individual travelers). This discounted cabin allocation is limited and applies only to porthole and balcony cabins on the Magellan Explorer, and deluxe balcony cabins on the Magellan Discoverer. For other cabin types, the single-room supplement is 100% of the fare for the other berth.
- Book a cabin shared with another passenger of the same gender. These cabin types are limited to porthole and balcony cabins on the Magellan Explorer, and deluxe balcony cabins on the Magellan Discoverer. After booking, our company will arrange another passenger of the same gender to share the cabin. In this case, passengers will be assigned a single room when staying at the hotel in Punta Arenas and will need to pay a single-room supplement. The supplement varies depending on the sailing itinerary; please check when booking.
*Note: Solo travelers who use a ventilator or other breathing assistance equipment, as well as passengers whose behavior may disturb others (such as loud snoring or sleepwalking), may only book a single cabin or a double cabin for sole occupancy; they may not book a double cabin shared with another passenger.

☆ Kayaking add-on: €896 per person *Limited spots; please check availability and book in advance.
Experience Antarctica from a different perspective by kayak: magnificent scenery, icebergs, wildlife… As you paddle quietly across Antarctic waters, you can take in Antarctica from a different angle. It will be a truly unique experience.
Kayaking is an optional small-group activity available at an additional cost. A maximum of 20 people can participate on each voyage. Participants will be divided into 2 groups of 10 and take turns kayaking. During the voyage, you will enjoy 1–2 kayaking sessions under the guidance of experienced instructors. Working with the expedition team, the instructors will look for the best opportunities to run the activity, weather and sea conditions permitting, with a safety boat accompanying the group throughout. The activity lasts approximately 1.5 hours. At the end, the instructors will do their best to leave some time for kayaking participants to join a landing as well.
To sign up for kayaking, you must have relevant experience, be able to swim, and communicate fluently in English. This activity is only available to travelers aged 15 and over. The expedition team member in charge of this activity may refuse or terminate a participant’s involvement for safety or other reasons. Cancellations made more than 120 days before departure receive a 50% refund; cancellations within 119 days are non-refundable. Participants cannot be substituted partway through.
☆ Snowshoeing add-on: US$85 per person per session *Can only be booked after boarding.
Snowshoeing takes you farther than a regular landing, allowing you to take in more of Antarctica’s magnificent scenery. We’ll choose the hiking route based on the specific terrain, offering you unique vantage points for photography.
Snowshoeing is a small-group activity offered as an optional extra at an additional cost. It is led and organized by the expedition team’s professional hiking guides. Working with the expedition team, the guides will schedule the best opportunities for snow hikes during the itinerary, weather permitting. The activity lasts approximately 1.5 hours. Depending on the month and terrain, you may need to use the snowshoes and trekking poles provided by the ship. Snowshoes are usually needed in November, December, and January, but not in February.
No prior experience is required to sign up for snowshoeing, but you should be in good physical condition and able to communicate in English. This activity is only available to travelers aged 15 and over.
☆ Pre- or post-trip hotel stay including breakfast + airport pickup/drop-off (cannot be booked separately) *Please enquire about the price when booking.
If you would like to arrive in Punta Arenas a day early, or spend an extra night in Punta Arenas after your trip, we can arrange additional hotel accommodation and airport transfers for your convenience. This includes accommodation at the Cabo de Hornos Hotel or a hotel of similar standard, perfectly coordinated with your itinerary. You only need to check in once, and we will reserve the same room for you in Punta Arenas as during your trip (subject to hotel availability when booked). Cancellations made more than 120 days before departure receive a 50% refund; cancellations within 119 days are non-refundable.
