Royal Palace of Spain (Palacio Real de Madrid)
The Royal Palace of Spain is one of the largest and best-preserved royal palaces in Europe, located in central Madrid. Built in the 18th century, it symbolises the power of the Bourbon dynasty. It is no longer a royal residence and is now used for state ceremonies and receptions for foreign heads of state. The palace has more than 3,000 rooms, decorated with gold leaf, crystal chandeliers, paintings by masters such as Goya, and exquisite tapestries. Visitors can admire the Throne Room, Banquet Hall, Royal Armoury, and fine porcelain exhibits, and experience the splendour and prestige of the former empire.
Puerta del Sol
Puerta del Sol is one of Madrid’s most famous landmarks and the city’s geographical center. The famous “Kilometer Zero of Spain” is located here. Once one of the city’s main gates, it is now a lively gathering place for residents, New Year’s Eve celebrations, and commercial events. The square is also home to a statue of a bear and a strawberry tree, symbols of Madrid’s coat of arms and a popular photo spot for visitors.
Sagrada Família
Located in Barcelona, the Sagrada Família is the world’s most famous unfinished church. Designed by architectural genius Antoni Gaudí, it combines Gothic and Art Nouveau styles. Construction began in 1882 and is still underway. Its façades depict the life of Jesus, with rich details and symbolism, from the Nativity Façade to the Passion Façade. The interior is sacred and peaceful, like a forest; soaring columns and stained-glass windows create a dreamlike play of light and color. It is not only a sacred religious site but also a pinnacle of art and architecture.
Columbus Monument & La Rambla
Standing 60 meters tall, the Columbus Monument is located at Barcelona’s port and commemorates the great navigator’s return from his first voyage. The statue atop the tower points out to sea, symbolizing the spirit of exploration. La Rambla is a pedestrian street running through the city center, lined with cafés, street performers, snack stalls, and traditional markets. It brims with Catalan character and is the perfect place to experience the rhythm of life in Barcelona.
Camp Nou Stadium (Camp Nou)
This is the home ground of FC Barcelona and Europe’s largest football stadium, with a capacity of more than 90,000. More than a sporting venue, it is a pilgrimage site for fans. The interior is currently closed to visitors due to renovation work, but visitors can still take photos outside and shop for official team merchandise, experiencing the appeal of one of the world’s top clubs.
Montjuïc Hill & Olympic Venue (Montjuïc & Olympic Stadium)
Montjuïc Hill offers a wonderful vantage point overlooking Barcelona and its coastline. It was the main venue for the 1992 Summer Olympics. The hill is home to numerous cultural and artistic sites, including the National Art Museum, the Olympic Stadium, and the Magic Fountain. A symbol of both sport and urban development, it is also a relaxing destination combining nature, beautiful scenery, and history.
Valencia Cathedral (Valencia Cathedral)
Located in Valencia’s old town, this architectural masterpiece blends Gothic, Romanesque, and Baroque styles. The cathedral’s most striking feature is a legendary “Holy Grail” kept in a chapel in its south wing—said to be the very agate cup Jesus used at the Last Supper. Climb the cathedral’s bell tower, El Miguelete, for panoramic views of the city. It is a photographer’s paradise.
City of Arts and Sciences (Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias)
Designed by renowned architect Santiago Calatrava, this is Valencia’s most modern landmark complex. Its futuristic exterior houses an IMAX cinema, science museum, aquarium, and performing arts center. With elegant forms and flowing lines, it resembles a sci-fi city floating on water, making it ideal for photography and family trips.
The Alhambra (Alhambra)
The Alhambra is a pinnacle of Islamic architectural art, hailed as “the last legacy of the Moors in Europe.” Built in the 13th century, the palace combines elements of palace architecture, mosques, baths, and gardens. Exquisitely carved stone columns, lavish colourful mosaics, tranquil pools, and gardens create an elegant, harmonious scene. It is a must-see for exploring Andalusia’s Islamic culture.
The whitewashed hill town of Mijas (Mijas)
This is a typical white village in Andalusia, built on a hillside with winding streets and snow-white house walls, complemented by red-tile roofs and colourful flowers, like something from a fairy tale. Peaceful and charming, Mijas is a wonderful place to experience rural life in southern Spain and shop for handicrafts.
Ronda
Built on a cliff, this ancient town is home to one of the world’s oldest bullrings and is the birthplace of Spanish bullfighting culture. Ronda’s unusual setting has earned it the nickname “City in the Sky.” The New Bridge spans a seemingly bottomless gorge, where magnificent natural scenery blends perfectly with ancient architecture, making it a favorite among photography enthusiasts and romantics.
Seville Cathedral
Built to commemorate the Christian conquest of the Iberian Peninsula, this is one of the largest Gothic churches in the world. It houses a rich art collection, a monumental main altar, and the tomb of Christopher Columbus. Its magnificent interior, intricate carvings, and religious symbolism are awe-inspiring, making it one of Seville’s most iconic religious buildings.
Seville Alcázar (Real Alcázar de Sevilla)
Founded during the Muslim period and later expanded by Christians, this palace complex is a perfect blend of Islamic and Catholic artistic styles. Its gardens are elegant and its halls lavish. Listed as a World Heritage Site in 1987, it has also served as a filming location for Game of Thrones, bringing history and beauty together.
Barrio de Santa Cruz & Plaza de España
Barrio de Santa Cruz is Seville’s oldest Jewish quarter, with winding cobbled lanes and a lively atmosphere. Built in 1929 for the Ibero-American Exposition, Plaza de España features a semicircular building surrounding a canal. Its tiled murals depict the history and culture of Spain’s provinces, making it a wonderful place for photos and a stroll.
Cape Roca (Cabo da Roca)
Known as “where the land ends and the sea begins,” this is the westernmost point of mainland Europe. Perched atop Atlantic cliffs, it offers spectacular views and is one of Portugal’s most iconic natural attractions. Visitors can collect a commemorative certificate proving they have reached the edge of Europe.
Belém Tower & Monument to the Discoveries (Torre de Belém & Padrão dos Descobrimentos)
Belém Tower was a 16th-century Portuguese coastal defence fortress and is now a symbol of the great Age of Exploration. Nearby, the Monument to the Discoveries features figures of great explorers such as Vasco da Gama. It is an important landmark honouring Portugal’s history of world exploration.
Jerónimos Monastery (Mosteiro dos Jerónimos)
A masterpiece of Portuguese Manueline architecture and one of Lisbon’s most famous historic landmarks. The monastery was where da Gama prayed before setting sail, and its intricate stone carvings and monumental structure showcase the art and faith of Portugal’s golden age.
Toledo
The former capital of Spain, it stretches across the Tagus River and is where Christian, Islamic, and Jewish cultures converge. The old town is home to well-preserved historic buildings, including the Alcázar and Toledo Cathedral. Renowned for its metalwork and religious art, it is a must-visit destination for discovering Spain’s diverse history and culture.
Day 1
Madrid - Zaragoza
Set off in the morning to explore Spain’s capital, Madrid, and its famous attractions, including the Cibeles Fountain, Plaza de Cibeles, Plaza de España, and the Royal Palace of Madrid. The palace was built during the height of the Spanish monarchy. Its magnificent, ornate splendor evokes the sacred twilight of the empire’s former glory. The “Kilometer Zero,” marking the center point of Spain, is a small square tile set into the pedestrian walkway at Puerta del Sol. Puerta del Sol is lined with shops and department stores, making it a great place to shop for Spanish leather goods, clothing, and all kinds of souvenirs. In the afternoon, leave Madrid for Zaragoza. Upon arrival, head straight to Plaza del Pilar. The Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar on the square is Baroque in style and was built between 1681 and 1872. Dedicated to Our Lady of the Pillar, the church was called the “Mother of the Spanish People” by the Pope and is said to be the first Marian shrine in history. Plaza del Pilar is lined with restaurants and cafés, where tour members can enjoy dinner at their leisure. Royal Palace visiting hours are Saturday from 11:00 to 11:30.

Day 3
Barcelona - Valencia - Alicante
In the morning, travel along the coast to Valencia, Spain’s third-largest city. Historically, Valencia has served as an important gateway from Spain to the Mediterranean. Valencia was once a hub of commerce and culture, and its dazzling brilliance attracted frequent visits from the Arabs. These frequent encounters brought momentum for cultural exchange and commercial reform to Valencia, giving the city a prosperity and splendor unlike anywhere else. Although Valencia no longer has the same prestige it once enjoyed, it remains an important city for commercial exhibitions. Exhibitions of all kinds are held here throughout the year, attracting businesspeople from around the world. Upon arrival, head to the city center to visit the Town Hall Square, the old city gates, and Valencia Cathedral in the historic quarter. The cathedral’s three entrance portals reveal its long history and the evolution of its architectural styles. The most captivating treasure is the agate cup housed in the chapel on the south side, said to be the Holy Grail used by Jesus at the Last Supper. Then head to the futuristic City of Arts and Sciences for photos. After the tour, set off for Alicante, a resort city on the Costa Blanca.
Day 4

Set off in the morning for Granada, a historic city on the Andalusian Plateau with a long history and a blend of diverse civilizations. Granada was ruled successively by the Visigoths and the Arabs, and was the Moorish dynasty’s last stronghold on the Iberian Peninsula. In the 15th century, King Ferdinand succeeded in expelling the Arabs, completing the unification of Spain. The city still preserves relics of many civilizations and cultures, attracting travelers from around the world to explore. Upon arrival, you can choose to visit the Alhambra (also known as the Red Palace), a masterpiece from the “Golden Age” of the Moors. Alternatively, you can explore Granada’s city center and old town, and experience its delicate architecture and fresh, refined atmosphere. Then head to the “optional group activity” in the white mountain town of Mijas, renowned for its blooming flowers and picturesque whitewashed streets. The red-tiled roofs and white walls of Mijas are arranged in charming tiers along the hillside, creating a pristine and pleasant landscape. Accommodation will be in Granada or a nearby city, bringing the day’s itinerary to a close. (During peak season, visitor restrictions and long queues are common. Though Ronda is now peaceful, it still exudes the distinctive charm of Spain. The entire town is a romantic yet striking sight, with whitewashed, red-tiled houses scattered across the cliffs. After the visit, continue to Seville, the soul of the Andalusia region. Once the capital of a Muslim dynasty, Seville is also a guardian of Andalusian culture and the birthplace of flamenco. The story of the novel Carmen is set in this city, which is also Spain’s fourth-largest. Upon arrival, visit the 16th-century cathedral, which contains a royal chapel and the tombs of several medieval kings. Beside the main altar is the tomb of the great explorer Christopher Columbus, commemorating his contribution to the discovery of the New World. Next, visit the Alcázar, once a palace of both Muslim and Catholic dynasties. It was listed as a World Heritage Site in 1987. The palace blends architectural styles from different cultures and is one of the world’s most intricate and beautiful buildings. Then stroll through the Santa Cruz district and visit the Torre del Oro and María Luisa Park. The park’s Plaza de España hosted the 1992 World Expo and uses exquisite ceramic murals to tell the story of Spain’s history and spirit. Seville’s Royal Alcázar visiting hours are Wednesday from 15:00 to 15:30. If you wish to go inside, we recommend booking tickets online in advance.
