Group Tours
On this 7-day journey through Basque culture, you will explore the Basque Country, one of the most distinctive autonomous communities in northern Spain. From the elegant seaside city of San Sebastián, to Bilbao, where modern art meets industrial heritage, and on to tranquil, historic Vitoria, each city tells the story of the Basque people’s unique identity and cultural pride.
Led by a professional guide, you will stroll through the medieval old town, savor cuisine that blends French and local flavors, and experience the charm of a place where tradition and modernity coexist. You will also visit rural towns in the Basque Country, admiring bright red peppers and white-walled buildings framed by greenery.
You can also choose to visit the popular “Dragonstone” (San Juan de Gaztelugatxe), a must-see spot for Game of Thrones fans.
Travel in comfort in a small group throughout, with hotel dinners included, for an immersive Basque experience combining culture, cuisine, and freedom to explore.
San Sebastián
This elegant coastal city is hailed as “one of the most beautiful cities in Europe.” Nestled beside the crescent-shaped Bay of La Concha, its golden beach and azure waters create a picture-perfect scene. The city blends elegant classical architecture with a modern art scene, while the Old Town is packed with places to eat, making it an ideal spot to sample authentic Basque pintxos. Climb Mount Ulia for panoramic views, especially enchanting at dusk.
Bilbao
Once a major industrial hub, Bilbao has transformed into a cultural star of northern Spain. Its most iconic landmark, the Guggenheim Museum, is world-renowned for its flowing titanium structure and stands as a defining work of modern architecture and art. The Old Town retains traditional markets and medieval streets, while lively bars and restaurants make it a wonderful place to experience local life.
Vitoria (optional day trip)
The capital of the Basque Country is understated yet full of charm. Its medieval walls and rows of historic houses reveal a rich heritage. With its many squares and green spaces, the city has been recognized by UNESCO as one of the “Green Cities.” Gothic churches coexist harmoniously with modern life, making this a city rich in culture and well worth exploring.
Gernika
This town came to the world’s attention after the 1937 bombing and was immortalized in Picasso’s powerful painting Guernica. Today, Gernika is a symbol of peace and perseverance. The town’s solemn oak tree represents the Basque people’s spirit of freedom. Street art and museums together tell a story that must not be forgotten.
Cliffside viewpoint
Set along the rugged Basque coast, this is an ideal spot for panoramic views of the Atlantic and spectacular landscape photography. From above, take in the magnificent meeting of blue sea and cliffs. On clear days in particular, the scenery is so picturesque that you will want to linger.
Dragonstone (optional excursion)
Made famous as the filming location for Dragonstone in Game of Thrones, the small island is connected to the mainland by a winding stone bridge. Climb 241 steps to reach the hilltop church. With its rugged, spectacular scenery, sea breeze and crashing waves, the island has a mysterious atmosphere. Legend has it that ringing the church bell three times brings good luck, making this a challenging yet romantic hike.
