Set off from sun-drenched Malaga on the Costa del Sol for a journey into the soul of southern Spain. We’ll take you to Andalusia’s most captivating destinations—where breathtaking views await atop cliffs and whitewashed towns with blue windows exude romance; where natural cave wonders formed over billions of years coexist with Arab heritage tucked away in the mountains. Every step brings a new view; every stop is a delight.
This itinerary brings together the following highlights:
Frigiliana: Known as “Europe’s most beautiful white village,” this is one of Andalusia’s most quintessentially Moorish towns. Whitewashed walls, stone alleyways, sloping steps, and mountain and sea views make it a feast for the eyes.
Cuevas de Nerja: A natural wonder featuring spectacular stalactites and underground chambers, known as the “Underground Palace of Europe.”
Ronda: Spain’s most romantic “city on a cliff.” Experience the drama and grandeur of the deep gorge and stroll across the New Bridge for breathtaking views.
Setenil de las Bodegas: A magical town built into the rocks, with houses tucked beneath immense rock overhangs. It is one of Andalusia’s most extraordinary villages.
Marbella and Puerto Banús: Among the Mediterranean coast’s best-known holiday paradises. Stroll in the sea breeze, admire the charm of Orange Square and the luxurious marina, and soak up the laid-back holiday atmosphere.
Here you’ll find vibrant Spanish culture, ancient towns steeped in history, extraordinary natural wonders, and the irresistible food and wine of the Mediterranean. We’ll take you on a relaxed, comfortable tour, staying throughout at handpicked three-star hotels on the Costa del Sol, so you can discover the true charm of Andalusia at your leisure.
Frigiliana
This white village tucked into a valley has been described by UNESCO as “one of the Mediterranean’s most charming villages.” It retains much of its Moorish architecture, with narrow, winding streets, intricate hand-painted tilework, and colourful window boxes and flowerpots creating a fairytale atmosphere. Wander along cobbled lanes and up and down stairways, discovering art galleries, pottery shops and views where mountains meet the sea. It feels like stepping into another era and is one of Andalusia’s remarkable cultural treasures.
Cuevas de Nerja
Known as the “miracle beneath the Mediterranean,” the Nerja Caves feature the world’s tallest stalactite, standing 33 metres high. Stalactites and stalagmites crisscross the caves, creating a dreamlike spectacle. One natural cavern is used as a concert venue, where the acoustics resonate naturally, earning it the name “the underground concert hall.” Murals created by prehistoric humans more than 40,000 years ago have also been discovered here, providing important evidence for the study of prehistoric art. This site perfectly combines natural wonders and archaeological significance, making it one of Andalusia’s must-see attractions.
Ronda
Ronda is one of Andalusia’s most legendary cities, perched above a deep gorge and famous for the Puente Nuevo, which spans the cliffs on either side. This magnificent 98-metre-high bridge looks like a sculpture, while the views over the Tajo gorge are breathtaking. The old town retains its Moorish-style lanes, bullring and ancient walls. It was an inspirational home for Ernest Hemingway and Orson Welles, both of whom lived here for extended periods. Walking through the city feels like stepping into a world where Arabian tales meet Spanish chivalric legends.
Setenil de las Bodegas
Rather than simply architecture, Setenil is a work of art carved by nature and human ingenuity together. The village’s most distinctive feature is that “houses grow beneath the rocks”: enormous limestone cliffs stretch over the streets, and some homes are built directly into the rock face. Cool in summer and warm in winter, the village has its own natural air-conditioning system. Its quiet, unassuming lanes hide cafés and taverns in rock crevices, making it a paradise for photography enthusiasts and explorers.
Marbella
Marbella is not only one of Southern Europe’s best-known holiday destinations, but also a perfect blend of culture, nature and luxury. The old town (Casco Antiguo) retains its Andalusian charm, with white walls and red-tiled roofs, while the Orange Square (Plaza de los Naranjos) is filled with the scent of orange blossoms. The seafront is home to modern marinas, golden beaches and golf courses. Whether you love history or are looking for sunshine and relaxation, you’ll find your own special place here.
Puerto Banús
Not far from Marbella, Puerto Banús is one of the seaside marinas most frequented by Europe’s high society and international celebrities. Hundreds of luxury yachts are moored here, while the waterfront is lined with international designer boutiques, fine-dining restaurants and open-air cafés. At night, the lights sparkle and a gentle sea breeze makes it an ideal place to enjoy a romantic Mediterranean evening. More than a symbol of luxury, it is also a window onto the harmony between modern life and nature.
